Sometimes that question comes up in a really quiet way. You’re in the middle of doing something routine, helping with a task you’ve done a hundred times, and a small thought slips in that you didn’t plan for. I don’t want to be here right now. Not forever. Just in this moment. And almost immediately, there’s a second reaction to it, like you’ve crossed a line just by thinking it. You keep going anyway. You finish what needs to be done. But the feeling lingers in the background longer than you expect.
